MONO

A note on privacy.

A plain-language overview of how Mono handles your notes and how this website works.

Updated October 16, 2026

Your notes and iCloud

Mono stores notes and attachments on your device and synchronizes notes, folders, tags and attachments with the private CloudKit database in your iCloud account. Use the same iCloud account across your devices. An optional preference also synchronizes your appearance and editor settings.

App access

The mobile app includes an option to require device authentication when opening the app or returning to it. This controls access to the app; it does not provide a separate password or individual encryption for each note.

Online content

When you search for photos, your search terms are sent to Unsplash. Loading online images, website icons and link previews connects to the relevant services. Those services have their own privacy practices.

This website

This website does not add advertising trackers, analytics scripts or cookies. Its files, including images and fonts, are served without embedded third-party content. Like other web hosting services, the hosting provider may process technical request information, such as IP addresses, for delivery and security.

Contact

If you contact us by email, the information you choose to send is used to respond to your message. Please avoid sending passwords or sensitive note contents.
